CEL and chipmunks

CEL and chipmunks
Symptoms:
- CEL on
- throttle stuck at idle
- otherwise starts and drives OK (at idle)
- dog has been sniffing around, barking, and getting under the engine bay for last month or so
Investigation:
- screw it - to cold outside
- ahh, but so many busy roads and hills between here and the repair shop. Will I be able to make it, at 25mph tops?
- Quick look under the hood - shiny copper? what the ...?
Diagnosis:
- Mr (or Mrs) chipmunk evidently likes the taste of wire and chewed through two wires, one going to the PCM and the other to the large connector next to the PCM.
Repair:
- Soldering iron
- Solder
- Heat shrink
- Cold hands
- 1/2 hour
All fixed!

Squirels in our area love chewing on the + wires for some reason, at work two truck had the + going to the starter chewed and the ipr, fuel bowl heater, and ebpv wires chewed. Glad you got it fixed
