The one from Power Source even comes with the plugs installed and they line bore the camshaft journals and install their own cam bearings (original engines don't have cam bearings). Something to consider when thinking about your purchase.

They are in Horn Lake Ms. right down the road from you.
I'm sorry this happened to you but a wise investment of funds on your part will give you a truck that should be very reliable and give many years of good use.
Good luck and please keep us informed as to how everything goes.
I would also recommend the replacement engine route. Then you will be able to start fresh and take proper care of it-should last a couple hundred K miles that way.
Do you have a base/post auto shop? Some have mechanics to do, or help with, the work.
Resale will be much better with a remanufactured engine with documentation too. I can't believe some of these people that neglect oil changes. You could also try to cut your losses and first try selling it as is with a blown engine? Then start all over again.
Well, I got the one from advancedenginex.com. I'll post a review on what they ship. Arrival date is set for 1 April..... Hopefully, the joke won't be on me. Supposedly it comes with plugs, Felpro gasket set, and a Melling oil pump. Also it has a 36 month 100k mile nationwide warranty. $2999
If any of you are still following this post, I got the truck back today. The only thing needed for the engine was a thermostat, gasket, thermostat housing, and fluids. The motor sounds great and runs real strong. When I got home, I decided to move the truck so I could complete some chores. My starter (used from the last engine) is trying to go out. No real issue there. I can fix that, but still not the new motor though. The dealership wanted to know where I got my information for my engine replacement, so I recommended the forum.
Now on to the rest of the list....
1.Tires
2.Head light, tail light, grill replacement
3. Running boards
Great to hear everything is working out. Just out of curiosity what did it cost in labor to have it replaced? Please keep us updated on how it's running.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. The parts and labor for everything AFTER the long block was $2275.00(all fluids including break in oil and first oil change as well as a new thermostat and water neck). The long block itself was $2900.00 making the total @5175.00. A junk yard engine was around 4k, so I'm happy with my decision(although my wife and bank account aren't).
The starter seems to be fine now. Maybe it was a fluke.
