roller lifters-repost
ok. I just gotta ask this. if there was a roller lifter that fit in the lifter bores on our y-blocks, y couldnt we use them on our solid lifter camshafts? all that would change would be the pushrod length right? wat isthe lifter bore size for the y-block?

Incorrect-the cam lobe is designed specifically for each type of lifter. You cannot use roller lifters on either a flat tappet hydraulic or solid lifter camshaft. Flat tappet camshafts have a slight taper from front to back on the lobe to promote lifter spin, that taper will quickly destroy a roller lifter which runs on a parallel surface on the lobe(parallel to camshaft centerline).

Y block lifters are funkie little things. They are narrow with a wide head on the cam end. Look like an old iron rivet with a flat head. You have to take the cam out to remove the lifters. Don't know how one would make a roller lifter like it.

Roller camshafts are made from steel versus cast iron for flat tappet cams, forgot to mention in first post. So, there is no way to regrind a flat tappet cam for roller lifters....sorry.
Cobra seems to know the inside of a 292, I have no idea, never had one apart.
