Door Seals falling off

Hey all,

The rubber door seals running around the opening of the driver and passenger doors of my 2010 keep drooping down and wont stay on the steel lip of the body. Does anyone else have this problem? Should i just silicone them up or glue?

thanks
Mike

Y0u might have to replace the little plastic clips with new ones...If the rubber is torn where the clips are , you need to use Contact cement or a similar " press tight " glue...Silicone might work but you will have to hold it in place longer

3M Super Weatherstrip adhesive would work well.

Photos of your problem help tremendously for this sort of thing---just like so many other things as well.

IF its the clips that have been broken through owner neglect like the seals freezing to the body during winter driving, the clips breaking when the door is yanked open then those can be somewhat easily replaced.

Because no less than 75% of door seals are held in place with clips its best to replace them. Because new seals are a bit expensive I avoid any adhesive to keep them in good condition. Another upside to clips is they're infinitely renewable.

Keep in mind those weatherstrip clips are mostly a one time use part---trying to remove them even meticulously carefully rarely results in a re-usable part.

HTH

Sometimes the clip pulls out and tears the weatherstrip
Quick fix is glue of some sort.

Thanks for the responses all,

Heres a pic of what i am talking about above the door opening, you can see the seal is drooping...there isnt really anything holding it....its like this on both sides.

I did have the problem on the rear doors but i just pushed the seals back into their grooves....it must be from opening doors when they are frozen...

The first thing is that you need to remove the bottom step..... it is like 3 screws .....
then you re-adjust the door trim , as required....Cut off what you have to ...
Contact Cement and other variants are your friend......

I was thinking you were referring to the rubber around the door itself. I would try squeezing that with a pair of wide jaw pliers, or sheet metal seaming tool. If that doesn't work, I'd break out the 3M Super Weather Strip adhesive. Silicone would probably work too.

Me as well!

As Jim mentions that trim piece is just a metal spline encased in the trim/seal material, can be easily squeezed together GENTLY enough to have it grab the pinch weld area enough to keep it in place.

See---told y'all photos make things sooooooooooooooo much more clear!
