I had the metal frame for my vent windows chromed. I took out the old cracked hardened weather stripping and bought new to replace the old.
That's my problem...........how do I get the weatherstripping in the channel without marring the frame that I just had chromed? The weather strip is so thick that it would take great effort to force it in the channel and I've tried sliding it into place and that doesn't seem to work either.........
My 2 cents:
The tape I bought from one of the suppliers set the glass to loose.
A glass shop will have different thickness setting tape to get the correct fit. Sealer works but will be miserable to remove if you need to replace the glass.....
When I did mine, I had to use a small flat end screwdriver to compress the weatherstripping enough to get it into place. It took a lot of time and patience. If you keep a steady hand, you should be able to get it in without marring your chrome.
Perhaps try some silicone spray(or dish soap) to the rubber to make it slip into place easier and lessen the amount of pressure needed against your new chrome.
