Posted earlier in different forum. Still looking for suggestions or assistance. First and only reply was helpful but first mechanic not interested in helping out again.

005 Mountaineer-Need HELP!!!!!!!!
Need Assistance. Bought repo. Drove one month. Died. In generic garage 4 months-yeah I know but he worked for ford 13 years. Anyway he gave up but in the meantime he installed a used ecm and installed the wrong vin. He finally gave up-no charge-for anything. Original ecm put back in. Took to ford-kept 3 days said needed new cat convertors-2800-said no way. New cat now installed along with new intake which was cracked causing plugs to foul and car not to start. Failsafe engine mode continues t come back after new ecm installed. Mechanic well versed in work but the abs system still has the wrong vin from first mechanic and cannot be changed by exixting mechanic causing the failsafe mode and other warning lights (advac trac, brake, wrench, etc.) Vehicle drives and runs but obviously cannot drive long without causing further damage. Can take back to Ford but what do I tell them to keep from charging me and arm and leg to do unecessary work?? Need to have vehicle fixed!!! Can anybody direct me to the right path to take?????????? 4.6 eng. AWD. Reply to Brucifer3.
