Chirping Noise? Easy, Low Tech Fix!

I've been having this "belt-like chirping noise" from under the hood lately so I immediately assumed a tensioner pulley or one of the other pulleys. It only happens occasionally and while accelerating. The last time it chirped, I happened to be turning off my AC and presto...no more chirp! I turned out to be the AC compressor clutch. If you're hearing that annoying chirping sound, it's worth a try to check the AC clutch.

If it's making noise with the A/C on then the noise is the compressor, not the clutch, when you turn the A/C off the clutch becomes a idler pulley. So with the A/C on the bearing is not turning.
