Trouble removing starter

77 F-250 4x4
Engine: 351M

Trying to remove the starter and found that only one bolt was keeping it in place. I removed the bolt and tried to remove the starter but it wont budge. I took a crappy picture the best i could with my phone and it looks like the starter is not lined up so I am assuming it is wedged in there some how. The truck has been parked for some time and it has ran before.

My question is it ok for me to beat on the starter to force it out or do i risk damaging something on the inside?
