Welcome to FTE. Because you have one of the big boys that we don't normally do, most of us might have second thoughts about trying to decode your warranty plate. A little more information from you would be helpful such as what model year you think it is. This really needs Number Dummy or one of our other experts' decoding skill. However, I have a '66 Truck Factory Workshop Manual with information that may or may not be relevant. I'm prepared to give it a try, and to be corrected. VIN F60AR520467. F60 = F600 truck. A = engine, but the information available later doesn't match information I have so I don't know. R = assembled at San Jose, CA. 520467 = if it follows F100/F250 rules you could say the truck was built in March, 1964. But I don't know if F600s follow those rules so that's a maybe. 174 = wheelbase in inches. (exterior) color left blank. Will be part of later DSO. F602 = 20,000 pound GVW rating. 181 = If the data plate calls that "Body" then it's Grey Vinyl interior upholstery. If it's called something else, I don't know. N = two choices of transmission: either 5 speed Clark 2622 V1 or 5 speed Spicer 6352. Both are direct, not overdrive. 64 = Rockwell F106NX6 axle with 6.80 gears. 20,000 pound = GVW rating. 160 @ 3800 = engine net horsepower and the rpms where achieved. Sorry I can't tie that to an engine description with the information I have. 830177 = a Domestic Special Order vehicle by the US Government (83). Records no longer exist to decifer what the rest of the DSO means. The absence of a code for exterior color usually has something to do with it, meaning the truck was painted a non-standard color. Hope this is of some help to you.

Very good. From my digging around I believe it is a 330 motor or A designation. It was originally military green after looking under the white paint. Interesting every other truck I have seen had split rims. this does not. Wonder if part of special order or somebody switched over after the fact.
will check your motor information and see if it matches up with 330 motor. Will have pictures tomorrow.

Good catch on your part. With that information I was able to check another source that shows "A" as the code for a 330 cubic inch, 2 bbl medium duty FT V8 engine in model years 1964 and '65. Have fun with your truck.

I just decoded the whole enchilada in the OP's other thread. OP says 4 speed = TRANS N = NP435 4 speed. N used 1964/65, A used 1966/78.

1964/65: A was used for the 330 2V M/D, C was used 1966/78.
