No help on the Production code and the Domestic Special order #. However, if it was a special order, you would have an S in the DSO. I'm thinking that it looks and sounds like a standard truck. Please anyone, if I'm wrong on any of this let me know!!
we (walunsf) is my brother, have started looking into the truck. It belonged to our grandfather and I was told at one time it was bought new. I am unable to verify that so far. It still has some of the original red and white paint on it. Alot of the emblems and nick-nacks have been robbed off it. I do know that they had some trouble with the motor in 56 or 57 and they warrenteed the motor with a y-block, probably a 272, and that is whats still in it. Its sitting in a field not too far from Fort Worth. Its intresting that it was built in Dallas and that not far from where its been sitting for the last 20 plus years. Its been all over the country back in the day.
Go forth young men.... rescue that family treasure!!! Parts are abundant and as you can tell from the forum, advice is too!
mtflat, what does the R plant symbol represent? Also, my Production code is 19A SC8134B - Jan. 19th, but what does the rest of the number mean? You are correct on the Torch Red and Vermillion issue - a local paint man refused to call it vermillion (my trucks orignal color) but finally admitted that the mixing chart shows the same for both.
According to this reference, R is for Richmond, VA. I don't know what the string at the end of the production code is for. This only calls it the "car produced".
