if I were u I would join mustang club of America for $50 wait 2 months and then u will be able to get x-plan pricing very hard to beat the price and u still get available discounts
I have heard about X plan pricing on this forum but I don't know how it compares. Can anyone elaborate? I see with your name Rubicon you must be a Jeep guy. I recently heard something similar with a Tread Lightly membership wait a couple months and get special pricing on a Jeep. How does X plan pricing compare to something like invoice - $$$ ??
X plan, last I heard was $100 under invoice. They will honor that upfront and you will get all rebates that apply as well. Some dealers will sell below X plan, but that depends on specials they are running or your ability to negotiate. X plan is a good, square deal where you don't have to feel like you were taken. It may be worth it if you don't have time to spend the better part of a day trying to beat 500 or so out of them.
Take the money that Ford Motor Credit offers to finince with them. I got an extra 1500 for that, and I will refince at 1.9% after the first payment. Even if you want to pay cash for the truck, take the FMC offer, then pay it off with the first payment.
Try telling them you'll split the difference between X and D plan and see what they say. If you are buying a truck that's already sitting on their lot, you'll do better if you want to haggle. Especially if the've had it for more than 60 days, because they have to start paying their floor plan payments at 90 days.

Thanks. The dealer I'm talking to is offering Invoice -$500 with pretty low OTD fee's. I always wonder if they have different versions of invoice to print out though!
An honest dealer will show you their invoice. It will include D and A plan prices on it as well. The A and D plans require PINs issued by Ford and are only available to employees (A plan) and employees family (D plan). They are reluctant to show that invoice because those plan prices are usually a fair bit lower and they don't want to start another price battle. Edmunds will get you very close to an invoice price, so you will have a good idea before they show you. Invoice on an F150 is roughly around $4K below the bottom line on the sticker. A little more on the higher end models. Ignore those package discounts. They mean nothing at negotiation time. The bottom line on the window sticker is the number that matters.
Also, Someone will chime in and say they got 15K off or something like that. There are those who say their truck gets 25 MPG too. Maybe so, but most people will never see those numbers.
Xplan is actually .4% above invoice. But, it caps dealer docs to either $100 or $150. Additionally if you need the dealer to transfer a vehicle for you, also known as a DX, it negates that fee if applicable.
Once you introduce a PIN to your dealer, ethically you are supposed to stop negotiating on the new vehicle. If you have a trade then the gloves are still on.
As for the maintenance plan and extended warranty: The maintenance plan really pays off when you drive many miles per year. The Ford ESP or extended service plan can be online much much cheaper than what your dealer is letting it go for. These things are all negotiable.
As for financing if needed, negotiate your butt off! It's your right and your money.

Thanks for the tip of buying the extended warranty and maintenance plans from FORD direct. I just called and for a 8 year 100,000 mile ESP they were $950 cheaper than the dealer who already said he knocked $1000.00 off and gave me 25,000 more miles.
The maintenance plan offers the same 8 year , 100,000 miles and is $240.00 cheaper.
