04 f-350 6.0 No Throttle

I have a strange issue and it happens very sporadic. Sometime it occurs at startup, sometimes while driving. Not sure whether it is limp mode, but I have no throttle. It starts fine, idles, but no throttle. Like I said, sometimes it happens while driving and I have to pull over and shut it down and restart. Mods are few, it has an airaid air filter and I had the turbo rebuilt and egr delete both completed in May. FICM was rebuilt by ficmrepair.com a couple years ago. It does seem to happen more often when it is raining or with a heavy dew after sitting for many hours. 128k. I adjusted the pedals all the way out and back in and it stopped for almost 5 weeks, but it has been pretty dry here in SW Ohio. then it got really foggy one day and rained the next and it has started again. Could it be that the EGR pigtail is getting moisture. It does not throw a CEL and my scan gauge II shows no codes.

I did run a dose of hotshot's secret thru the fuel back in may, ran a couple tanks of fuel, then changed the filters with OEM.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have had this truck for almost 3 years, but still a newbie when it comes to diesels.

Sounds to me like it's the Airaid filter...... that bad boy's got to go!

Its really sounds like its your pedal, check it for a chaffed wire.

Thanks, will check the wiring this evening, but it was also suggested to me that it might be the ICP sensor. I just need to figure out how to test.
What is wrong with the Airaid filter? it was on the truck when I bought it.

IF the ICP sensor connector is flooded with oil, replace it. You can unplug the sensor, won't hurt anything, just clear the code after you plug it back in. Drive the truck for a while and see if it re-occurs.

Normally ICP issues are all RPM, not randomly at different RPM.

Nothing wrong with the filter.

I have unplugged the sensor both running and off and it never throws a code, or at least one that shows up on my scangauge 2 and no CEL. And no oil on the pigtail, just a little dirty.

same for EGR, unplug it and drive a bit... will probably drive like crap, but you'll know that's not it for sure.

Pretty sure the EGR is unplugged from the delete.

It should be plugged in as it helps control fan operations as well, just not EGR stuff.

sounds like the problem miles ( acf6 ) was having with his truck... his would act up whenever it rained too... dunno if he ever got it fixed... if it was happening both dry and wet id say to look at your turbo as the vanes inside could be sticking..

Turbo rebuild only has about 12.5k on it and I never get the turbo fart noise anymore when I get on it hard and let off quickly like it did before the rebuild. I don't think that is it.

the fact you mentioned it was only happening when it rains is why i didnt think it was the turbo... sounds more like what was happening with Miles's truck... would try messaging him... see if he can point you to anything particular...

I ended up finding a wire corroded in half down above the driver's fender well. It was right out of one of those 4 large connectors in a row. Don't even know that was the issue for sure...but it hasn't done it since so I'm hoping it was. That was also after a new engine and body harness... I replaced the EBP, ICP sensor and pigtails as well.

Do you have any codes?

No codes that I can see with my scangauge 2, but I am going to stop in at the shop that did my delete and see if he will scan it for me. Will follow the wiring, don't want to buy a pedal unless I can verify that it is bad. Adj pedals are not cheap and I hate throwing money at a problem and not being sure. Thanks

Your scan gauge won't read them. You'll likely have some sort of pedal voltage correlation codes. There's D E and F, one for each potentiometer in the pedal. I kept getting E and F. I will try to find the ford diagnostic flowchart later that was a big help when I had these issues
