Hello guys, well this is a pretty sad day. I was driving my 1981 Ford stepside and of course a snow storm had hit our town during the night. We anyways long story short, I slid off the road when I hit some black ice ( I was carrying a trailer in the back) and the trailer of course hit my bed completely obliterating my driver fender and my tail light. This of course is beyond repair and was wondering if anyone, anywhere happens to have a driver side fender that is for sale? Or where I can find one! Thanks for your time.
Sorry to hear about the truck. Not sure where you're at but are there any good parts yards near you?
I live in Central Nevada, I can't even find any good part yards. I'd probably have to search near Vegas but I don't have the time to go, especially in this horrible weather.
That's going to be really tough to find. The fiberglass fender flares for the bed are not reproduced or available new. You might try a nation wide junkyard search and have it shipped to you.
How is the rest of the bed? When searching use the term 'flareside' bed (Ford's term) instead of 'stepside' bed (Chrvy's term) to get better results. Best of luck.
The rest of the bed survived without a scratch but the fender got torn up. I've been trying to find some decent fenders but I've only found passenger side fenders unfortunately.
F834 is right - the www.car-part.com site is great. I posted this on my page in reply, but wanted to post it here to be sure you saw it:
There are left rear fenders at a number of yards out west, but unfortunately looks like none listed in Nevada at least on this site - maybe you can have one shipped?
If they post inventory on car part, most likely they will ship. Romel77 found a pair of captain chairs and a center console at an Idaho junkyard. We had it freight shipped on a half pallet right to my doorstep in Arizona before having his truck shipped to Europe. I don't remember the exact details of the freight charge but it was reasonable. I would definitely make some calls.
