So I made some progress on my build. This weekend I found some time to put the front fenders and fascia on as well as the box and rear fenders. All of this is on with a couple of bolts to get some perspective only. Need your opinion. Do the wheels look OK to the fenders? When I measure the cross members to the frame everything is square. The front fenders will be 4 1/2" off the ground at the front in this stance. Is that enough?
I hope that you realize that your bed is sitting low...this may throw off your visuals a bit. The front wheel looks to be in the stock location, many choose to move this location forward when installing an aftermarket IFS.
My bed is sitting low? I guess I will have to find out how it is suppose to be. I have the cross members of the bed sitting on the frame right now.
For the front it has an IFS in it. It was done by the previous owner of this build.
Sorry if I seem dumb, this is the first time I am building any sort of hot rod.

Marten, take a look at your running boards...they should be even/parallel with the lower edge of your cab. As your truck is sitting now they are about 3 inches too low in the rear. Here is a pic of my truck in one of the early mockup stages, see how the running boards sit in relation to the cab? Do you have running board mounts on your frame? It appears that you may not, this could be a problem.

I do have the mounts for the boards, just did not put them on thinking it would work just propping them up. It appears that something is wrong there for sure. Not sure what it is as the box appears to be in the same location as yours in relation to the cab. I have the cab bolted on with 2 mounts in the front and with 2 dog bone type things in the back only. Is that right? Do like the look of your truck and they way it sits. For the box I have the cross members of the box sitting on the frame, is that correct or is there something else to go between them?
Sorry guys if this seems dumb to you but I have no idea what I am doing here and have not found anyone close to me to help guide me a bit more with this truck.

Hey Marten, something is off kilter like the other guys said. The bed braces afik should be set on rubber spacers, but I don't think they are very thick. Maybe 1/4" or so. It does look like the rear of the cab is high, and maybe the front too low. Sometimes the front cab mounts are shot, or the arm that is rivited to the frame bent down. Or the cab itself could be a little soft in that spot. To original rear cab brackets were riveted to the frame. But if replaced they would be bolted on. Its possible the triangle brackets were installed upsidedown making the rear of your can real high. I have my truck taken apart and took a few pics and measurement for you. I have new front and rear mounts and everything is level as it should be. Maybe it will be of help to you.
Front, the distance between the bottom of the pinch seam and front cab mount arm is 1 1/4".
The rear cab mount triangle should be installed like shown. The distance between the bottom of the pinch seam and top of the frame is 1".
Thanks Nick, I will take a look at my rear mounts. The fronts match yours but I know that the rears are a lot higher. Took over this truck from someone else so not sure what has been done right or wrong.

If you look at the way Nicholas+ has his installed that must be right. If you look at mine (no pics yet) the bracket that bolts to the frame is in the shape of a triangle. His puts the hole for the bolt (that goes to the dog leg) near the bottom. Mine is mounted the other way putting the bolt hole near the top. Might explain the running board/body relationship looking funny.
Just found part of the problem, my rear cab mounts are installed upside down. More problems.
Cool. When you get it straightened out post some more pics showing the stance. If I remember right you had another thread and mentioned you had a Mustang 2 and engine fitment issues. Did you get that figured out?

Good memory almost. I have a kit from Flat Out Engineering for both the front and back that put a C4 corvette suspension system in this truck. Go my motor issue resolved by moving the motor ahead 4 1/2" and making new mounts. Well I watched as my brother did the work. I am not a welder yet. Still not sold on the location of the front wheels but not sure how much work is would be to cut out the front cross member and move it 1". It is all welded in place now.
Anyone else have thoughts on this?
We all have different ways to do things but I would get some wheels and tires similar to the ones you will run on the truck then take a look. You can always run it for awhile then tackle the project later .
So I had a chance to look at my truck yesterday. I fixed the cab mounts and now it sits better in relationship to the running boards. I went back and double checked everything the previous owner did. It appears that the front should/could be moved forward about 3/4"-1" to be "perfect". Currently there is about 8" of welding holding each side of the cross member to the frame. How hard is it to cut out? Is there an easy way to do it? The truck is being set up to drive but also to show at local shows, not the big ones where money is involved.
