I just pulled the fuel pump out of my truck after quite a lot of trouble. I did set the engine to TDC so the tappet shouldn't have fallen out. Can someone check me on this - is that the tappet still attached to this pump at the bottom?
Just curious, are you replacing it with a new mechanical pump, or going with an electric pump system? I just put in an electric pump because I was trying to avoid the headaches of a future roadside mechanical pump failure but the electrical pump system installation was a huge headache and not sure I'd do it again. I didn't buy a kit and I kluged the parts together myself for the electrical pump system, which is where I went wrong. Got carried away and started tearing into it and putting things together before I had it completely figured out.
I replaced it with a new mechanical pump, a Delphi unit. I'm having to sell the truck due to financial issues that mean I can't afford to maintain it properly so I'm getting rid of it before I ruin it.
