Good luck finding 4.30 gears in a used truck, I was in the same boat and finally gave up and bought one with 3.73’s. I’ve been very happy with it.
as far as service goes, seems that Ford really fails there. I had a 6.0 and all its known issues, Ford was horrible to deal with and I think they probably still are. Way too many issues to spell out here, but after swearing off, and sending lots of hate Fords way I decided to get the truck I have hope it’s as good as everyone says.
i have a Toyota T-100. 112K. Also have 3 Chevys with 362K, 329K and 264K. K and N intakes has a chevy with over 1,000,000. If you want to talk about Toyota, you are in the wrong forum. You can take that hunk of tin elsewhere. Also, my numbers excluded fleet.
Nah, Toyota's used to be heads above the american cars but they are no longer, neither w trucks. I've had all of them and the Toyota's have dropped quite a bit in quality.
The Chevy engine might be ok (except for piston slap) but their electronics are terrible. Seen so many with issues on the dash, it's not funny.
OF all long term cars/trucks I've had , I've had the least amount of issues with the Ford vehicles.Sure they are not perfect. And I stay away from the SD diesels. They probably skew the numbers.
New cars salesman usually know nothing about the car they sell and they know even less about older vehicles. I always come prepared and have yet to find a sales guy that knew more than me when I checked out a vehicle.
The 6.2 is a very good engine. Check the forum out. You will see.
