PHPs Hydra

Guys, fill me in on them.

I know when they first came out they had some problems, have they resolved them?

I am looking to get a chip for the 97 and I do NOT want a TS 6 position. I like to see what it is set at.

I had a DP, but I was not very thrilled with his tunes for the touchyness of the throttle. Sent it back a couple times

From what I have heard from the guys that have them now, they are working pretty well. Having the tunes emailed cuts down on the wait time of having to send the chip in and have it re-burned, and it holds a lot more tunes. You can get tunes from different tuners and have them all loaded one one chip. That is a really nice feature. I want to try one myself as soon as soon as I can afford it.

Some tuners wont send you tunes for the Hydra.

Just be warned of that.

Duno if they changed it, but used to be that the tunes ended up passing though PHP regardless so he could steal other tuners tunes.

I'm hoping that isn't true any longer.
But who knows.

I really like my hydra. I don't know what problems there were in the past. I have nothing but good things to say about it. You do have to be on the internet to move the tune from email to php and onto the chip. I don't know about php stealing tunes but I doubt it.
So far I have not heard any tuner I wanted to deal with not using the hydra. The one that does not I would not deal with if every other tuner was dead.
I highly recommend it. Kt performance sells a nice switcher that goes in a gauge pod and has a much longer cable. Someday I will invest in that as I would like to get the switch up higher a bit.

I just extract (unzip) the tunes from email to desktop. When I load them to the hydra I'm not on the internet. After setting it up I brought the laptop inside the house to print off my 17 positions and it was gone. I wanted a print out of my tunes so I actually took my printer out to the truck to print it. That's the only problem I had. Of course, I'm not wireless around here because my wife gets headaches from wireless.

Do you have a link for the switcher?

I'll put another good word in for the hydra. The switcher with a longer cable would be nice as the stock cable is pretty short. I've got a cable underneath always hooked up to the hydra, like most do I'm sure, it's wound up and tied up under the dash. If I get new tunes, just unwrap it and hook to the laptop. No more removing the chip.

Evening Brad, I'm with you on Jody's tunes, a bit too touchy for my liking. As for the switch tho, I run one of these and like it a lot...

Thank you for the link. Is it as obnoxiously bright as it appears?
