I have a 351 W. I do not know the year model. I am thinking about selling it. It is a complete long block with automatic trany. It has an edelbrock flat plane intake crane cam and a holley 4-barrel carb. I am not sure how much this motor is worth. I am building a 69 F100. I thought about putting the small block in there but I will just rebuild teh 360 that is already in it. Any advice on the worth of the small block is appreciated.
I have to agree...if this is a rebuild? The 351w can be built to far greater potential...and even greater economy over the 360 if so desired? It's all depending on what you are doing with this project?
If it's a restoration...keep it stock...especially if the 360 is the same one that came with the vehicle...That's where the long term money is at.
I like the 351W...cuz the skies the limit on making power , unless your budget is holding you back? The aftermarket for SB Windsors is absolutely incredible/ limitless.
Just be sure what your states emissions and required equipment regulations are before you get too hot rod crazy. It would be a real shame to build something that was chocked full of non-emissions compliant parts...and then not be legal to run it where you live.
My state of NC does have rules that allow vehicles made before 1975 currently to slide by the "Smog/Sniffer ****" tests...but rules vary from state to state...and in N.C.'s current standards , it can vary from county to county regarding emissions testing too..Currently the 5 largest counties have emissions testing..and that will increase by 5 to 10 more by years end.
The long and short of this is....KNOW you local rules before making a drastic plunge into extreme power mods.
I am not sure where I want to go with this P/U. I am relatively sure this is the original 360....how can I find out? But money is always a road block. I have no preference for either of them. I have had a built 390 and loved the fun, but hate the economy or lack there of.
