I'm guessing here but aside from any mechanical issues, it's likely an issue of too much pusle width commanded by the tune and insufficient high pressure oil.
I see you are from the Gorge. I'm in Vancouver, WA and can pull codes and datalog your rig while driving.
...I would suggest getting a ELM or the Good OBD LINK MX something you can Bluetooth to get some data on what your truck is doing. Torque pro is a great app. Forscan is a easy to use free app. But fairly/very limited. I would spend the $6 on TQPRO. The engine light is trying to tell you something this will tell you what the ECM is trying to tell you and guide you whats going on....

My first reply was on the iPhony - it was a lunch break. Unfortunately, the portable posts don't share my signature and posting photos is a bugger. I'm on the home computer now.
Click the OBDII link in my signature to get plenty of scan tool info. A stealership scan costs between $100 and $150, and it's a one-shot deal. Buying your own decent OBDII adapter and downloading an app for your smartphone, tablet, or laptop costs far less than the single scan - and you get far more information any time you want from now on.
On the subject of links in my signature, click around - there is a lot of great reference material available there.
On the subject of your chip - yank it. We need to troubleshoot the truck - not the chip. Once you're sure the truck is 100%, you can revisit the chip.
Also Tugly here is a rocket scientist compared to me when it comes to electronics. You can take his advise to the bank on whatever he has to say on the ECM and or Tq Pro.
Uh... thank you... I think. The pressure is on now.
the chip is conflicting (with its self????) by removing the "chip" you eliminated the issues, there fore the issue is with what ever programming on said chip, is this a chip you purchased or did it come with the truck when you acquired the truck??

I nought the chip. I should restate, the truck runs good on heavy tow, light tow and stock. XL fuel mileage and performance it runs poor and check engine light comes on...but it goes light crazy just sounds like hell.
I guess I need to get with someone who can scan and make sure HPOP and all the other stuff is working right. I'm still convinced when that turbo spools up hard it just isn't getting enough fuel, it all started when I added the intake, I think lots of air not enough fuel.
Anyhow, thanks for the input. I have a MAC and iPhone so the diagnosis tools out there are no0 bueno, anyone who can direct me to a good 7.3 mechanic please do, or I can just leave it slow.
32's altering the odometer won't explain that fuel economy. Are you all low speed all the time? Extended idle time? Towing? Heavy load?
I think the truck is ailing, and the chip is asking the truck to do something it no longer can. If we fix the truck, that will likely take care of the tuned attitude.
Here's my 2000 when I had stock injectors and turbo (air in/out mods and a chip):

I think you're right, something is wrong. I'm no diesel expert but I've built cars my whole life and I know when something doesn't sound or work right. Question is where do I go with it.
Answer to you question. I tow quite a bit but nothing a half ton F150 can't handle. My over all complaint with the truck is unloaded. Sounds like the thing is gonna blow up when I put my foot into it on performance settings.
Turbo boost solenoid. Wastegate failure, which is funny since I have the Bighead Waste gate actuator. Hopefully its a loose vacuum hose or the cheap $33 part.
