Hello Guys,
I am normally in the Slick forums, so glad I have something that I can share or ask here.
I have found a 86 Ranger and doing some searching it seems likely this is a Shadow Ranger.? Seems Ford had sent them out to a truck builder and they installed a fiberglass step side for doing some marketing to see how the bed would hold up and what gas mileage advantage there may be.? Now at least this is what I read. I have also read where there are only a few of these out there and could be rare? (Rare to someone that may be interested in it) Now I do realize a vin number would be answer, however I have asked for it, I have yet to receive it. I have a call into the guy selling it. I have my son running up there to document the vin.
I can tell you this has a 302 in it with auto overdrive so I am not sure this was factory. Anyone have any insight to this model and its "rare" possibilities? Anything would be greatly appreciated for I am interested in it for it may follow me home this weekend.
Thanks,
Hammy
SO I see a lot of visitors looked at this thread but no responses....So that tells me it may just be another Ranger with a step side bed??
SO... i was a day late....the truck sold today. I believe from some of the research I did this morning, the guy didn't know what he had for as I find out more, this could very well have been 1 of 15 made by ford, other then the drive train. Sold for $4500.00.

i guess my butt is headed back to the slick forums....at least i get some input as to my findings. I am a supporter of this forum and pay my dues for reasons like this, to possibly find out "something". As I always attempt to help others as well. Have a great day!
Little late to the party (dont get to the Ranger forum much) anyways, the Shadow addition is pretty rare indeed. Most never even knew they existed. They only came SWB, 2-wheel drive and standard cab. Although rare, I do have a box off one though. Plans for it are to put it on my V8 Ranger 4x4 shortbox project.
I've been checking in on this thread because I'd never heard of a shadow edition; looks like nobody else in our corner of the forum had either. Anyway, thanks for posting it.
