Trucklite has an LED headlight with built in heating elements that come on automatically when the outside temps drop below 50 degrees.

That might work for you.

That's interesting---good move on their part but not unexpected--Trucklite is a great company.

For me I've pretty much abandoned searches for "better" headlights. These days I rarely drive when they're needed so normal sealed beams should suffice for the time being.

You need to get out more JWA . I just went through 19 pages on the topic at the Sportsmobile forum. Very interesting. Anyway, I'm in for an upgrade. These old lights are really beginning to bug me.

Links to E350 specific Trucklite product?

Also, Candlepower Forum?

Oh, I'm out and about enough during the day, at least for work anyway.

Until or unless I ever go the full-sized Transit route I'll still be investigating lighting options for the E-Series. Given Scott's satisfied customer list he'd be the go to guy for that I'm positive.

Re: Truck-Lites, Ford lists two types of headlights on a '99 E350-#13007 Headlamp--Low Series and #13005 Headlamp--Aerodynamic.

Here's my vehicle:

Anyone got a Truck-Lites part number for this style? Is an additional harness needed?

WC your headlights are aka "composite" or "aerodynamic" so don't be surprised to see either word used to describe your particular headlights. To date I've not seen Truck-Lite offering their LED's in that style, highly subject to being being wrong since its been a while since I've checked.

E-Series are somewhat easily interchanged between the two---grill, fenders and header panel being the same for either type. If using the sealed-beam type of H/L's you'd need the trim bezels and all mounting/adjusting hardware but fortunately that's all easily ordered and installed.

If you went with replacements such as Scott offers I believe all necessary wiring etc is part of the package---if not he could advise you what additional is needed.

Ah, thanks, JWA. I don't believe Scott's lights are DOT, not that I care about that anyway. But I'll likely decide between his and the Truck-Lites. As you mentioned, getting all the info on the latter seems to take some sweat effort. (I thought the internet was supposed to solve all that).

I don't believe truck lites make a composite version. You should go to truck lites website and or call them for a definitive answer. They make sealed beam led replacements. Sealed beams are a universal part. From atvs to big rigs....

These composite headlights were part of the lighting upgrade in the Performance Package at the time I bought the vehicle. However, it seems now there are better performance options in the sealed beam version if one stays with the halogens. Research ongoing at frantic pace. :

Actually, the sealed beams are not very good, although you can buy a Hella sealed beam that is better than the OEM headlight, the brand of which escapes me.

Mine had sealed beams, and I upgraded to the Hella H4 E-codes. They are drop-in replacements for the sealed units.

Much better lighting on low beams, and very focused high beams. I supplement the high beams with a set of Rigid Duallys, which are on a relay and come on only when I switch to high beams. The combination of all 4 lights produces enough road illumination for me.

Any chance you could share a photo of your setup? Sounds like you can really put out some light.

I need to correct a small error...I think I meant to say that you can install Sylvania sealed beams..and they are better than the stock units..I dont actually know if Hella makes a sealed beam.

We are talking about the non-aero, non composite, glass type 6054 headlamps, so if your van has the aero style, then you wont be able to use these without swapping other items. You can of course add additional LED driving lights as I did.

Here are two pictures I took after I installed the Rigids but before I installed the Hellas. I added a few daytime pictures of the Hellas and the Rigids. I will try to get some additional pictures tonight.
