Also if the pan is 1994 or older then it takes a cork gasket. The rubber reusable one will leak a lot.

good to know. i'll check that before i purchase.

where is the trans computer located in the truck? i did a search and kept coming up with the engine computer location. thanks google.

The engine PCM Computer is the transmission computer.

It is located in the drivers kick panel. You have to unplug it from under the hood (10mm bolt) and it comes out inside the cab of the truck.

so i had some time to mess with this. i found most of the wires going into the plug have their insulation shrunk back, exposing bare wire. on top of that, it was caked with mud.
i am going to order a new plug and in the mean time, i am going to clean the wires real well and put some high temp RTV or liquid electrical tape on the wires to keep them insulated. none of the wire were broken or disconnected from the plug, so i guess that is a positive.
after that i will do some testing and possible a drive test to see if the trans shifts or not.
