I've searched and have come up empty. I'm looking for a aftermarket aluminum transmission oil pan for the C6 in my '77 F150 4x4. Does anybody know of anything that will clear the cross member etc...?
I've looked at the B&M pan #40281 but according to Summit Racing it won't work in my truck.
So what you are saying is that a deep pan contacts the X-member? I figure about your only choice is to section the crossmember and lower a section to clear the pan. It's easy.... if you can weld.
By the way, why do you feel like a deeper pan is needed or warranted? I'd look at an auxiliary transmission cooler.... maybe even with its own electric fan. Keep it protected - high and outta the mud and rocks cuz it could be a long walk back to camp or the highway if ya don't notice it got bashed and bled all over God's earth.
Well one reason I want one is for a pan to have a drain plug in it so I can drain the fluid easier when changing it. An aluminum one for the help in cooling etc..and the extra capacity won't hurt. I prefer not to cut and weld the cross member if I don't have to. I don't do hard core off roading with it. So the little ground clearance I'm going to lose isn't going to bother me at all. Thanks for the thought.
My neighbor has a 77 4x4, he had a TCI pan put on when his C6 was rebuilt. I put the trans in for him. It clears the crossmember but I don't know if you could put the pan on with the transmission in the vehicle.
Well, thinking otta the box a stock pan could be modified with a drain plug and to aid cooling would be to increase its surface area by welding tubes to it so air can flow thru and act as heat sinks.
