It has been a while since I posted. Work has been a bear, lack of parts and time have been an issue. This weekend made up for it all.
A few weeks back I pulled the windshield and back glass, ordered new seals from Precision. I wanted to check the channels for corrosion. I was amazed there wasn't any. There was a little surface rust between the dash pad and seal. After taking care of that it was off to the glass shop. What a difference! Should have bought a new one 20 years ago. Along with the glass I changed the oil, new PS pressure line, new wipers and finally did the headlight relay upgrade.
The icing on the cake - after procrastinating for countless years I finally pulled the trigger and ordered my drop kit yesterday. So this weekend the suspension comes out.
Pictures of wiring, oil changes, and a new windshield are not very exciting. After the test drive I laid down a smoky burn out in my shop. That's all I have guys. Lots of pics of the suspension work to come!
Amazing weekend. You know those times when everything fights you and nothing is going right? You sit near defeat, disgusted and say "why cant things just go right for a change". This weekend I put my DJM kit on and it was so smooth. I must be living right cause things really worked in my favor. It took me 10 hours Friday night and part of Saturday. The only hiccup was I had to cut off and replace one shackle bolt, that's it. As with most projects, the first side was a little slow and the second side was a breeze.
I have decided to call it quits for this winter and this post. It is nice in Michigan and I am going to enjoy driving it for a change. I need to look the suspension over one more time for clearances and torques. I also need to roll the rear fender lip a little. It is scuffing the rear tire just a touch. Not tearing up the sidewall, but there is a little contact. I mentioned earlier I have a 10 inch rim with 295/50/15 tires in the rear. They are a touch to wide. Thank you all for the words of encouragement, knowledge, joining me on this journey! Rob
Man I love your truck. Pretty much the way I'm looking to go. Ride height looks good and I like the way the tires fit in there. That's also the steering wheel I'm looking to get.
Enjoy your ride, I'm sure you get lots of waves
