Do other campers meet off season? We do. Christmas tree hunt up north, lunch, and pot luck dinner. How about you campers?
Saturday we had our annual Camper's lunch. People from CT, RI, and MA. About 25 of us from Charlie Brown Campground get together about this time of year for lunch and it was good to see them and see what people are up to. A couple of us have new 5th wheelers. And there are some new romances out there and gossip.
We will get together again in March for a pot luck diner at the campground, prior to it opening.
Not a lot of off season camping in SD...in fact campers are pretty rare this time of year with exception of those going south.
I've always had my boat and camper ready for a winter fishing trip however. Snow just has been too deep the past few years to even reach the camper hitch with the truck with out the use of a pay loader.

That's because we run south where the warmer weather is like a dog being chased by a pack of coyotes.
The CG on Lake Champlain where we spend much of the summer has a nice pre-spring get together in mid-February at a restaurant in Ticonderoga but two out of the past three years we have missed due to really bad weather in the Adirondacks and the road along Lake George we need to use to get there. It's scheduled now again for mid-Feb - but again, who knows what the weather will be plus I am having a left eye problem that make night time driving tough. As far as snow this year - we may have had 2-3 inches locally, but the worst storms the past few years have been late Feb - early March. We'll wait and see what happens
I find that interesting. Every time I go to Lake George in the winter it's never less that a foot of snow over night. And back in the seventies I went fishing of the steal pier and turned into a blizzard.

That's history this year. Lake George may have a bit more then we have 35 miles South, but Glens Falls which is 10 mile directly South of LG has none either. Up until about 2 weeks ago a lawn mower would be more useful as the grass was still green and growing. My little snow blower is still in the basement storage area though the diesel tractor has the big one on it - and not used so far.
As far as Memorial Day weekend, I'll blow the horn as we 'blow by' Exit 20 on our way to Exit 31 of I-87
Where you headed Ireland that's off exit 31...we are always looking for new places to camp. This will be the first trip with the baby so we wanted to be sort of close to home incase I needed to run the wife and baby home for any reason.
You must be fairly close to me, I'm in Schenectady/Rotterdam area.

Sarge
Sarge - I'm between Exit 10 and 11 in Clifton Park just off Longkill Road. I know Rotterdam very well having worked ~12 years at the old army depot, now Northeast Industrial Park for GE plus living in Altamont for ~7 years, using R'dam as a pass through
We go to Barber Homestead Park outside of Westport. Small, privately owned CG with about 55 sites, 30 and 50 amp, sewer and water hookups. Most of us are seasonals though there are about 10 or so open sites. We pull out for extended trips - this year one will be before the mid May CG opening date, another planned will be 5-7 weeks in August - Sept for another South and West swing.
Cool deal Dave...Its nice to know someone on the board is in the area. If you ever want to meet up for lunch or a beer and you're in the area we can go to Marks, or if I'm out your way I'll give you a heads up.
Seems like there aren't too many of us from the eastern side of the state on here.

Lake George RV Park is one of our absolute favorites! I grew up going there every Labor and Memorial Day weekends from birth until I was 19.... it was the same people there every year so a giant bunch of us kids would meet up and hang all weekend... Our parents even tried to reserve sites in the same area.... we love inner loop and outer loop if inner isn't available.
Now I take my family there.... we go for a week in August.... mid week only....that dog park is awesome.

I can't disagree with that - there are lots of things to do especially if you have kids, in the CG or in or near LG village. We don't stay there any more but when we had kids home, it was one of our favorites. We even stayed in the overflow one time and had as good of a time. About the only thing we do with Lake George these days is if home, I'll go to the street rod show the weekend after Labor Day as getting through that area can be a study in frustration from traffic tie ups on Rt 9.
