239 Y Block Water Pump
On the water pump there is a 3/8 threaded plug.
1. What is it for?
2. The plug is rather hollow.
- If I replace the plug, does it have to be the same type of plug with
with the hollow center?
- The head of the plug is rounded off and I want to replace it with
a longer threaded bolt for attaching a bracket.
- Am I going to be able to find a bolt with the same thread type?

I looked up pictures of Y block water pumps and there seems to be a couple of styles, one for trucks apparently has a heavy mount with two holes off to the side, the standard type does not have anywhere that I could see where your plug would go...unless it is the female pipe threads for the heater hose nipples. And 5/8 hose usually uses a 3/8 pipe thread. Do you have a picture of the location?
