Accompanied by a loud clacking sound, not backfire.
It's happening to my '95 f350 cc 4x4 e4od, regardless of which tank I'm on. Because of the placement of its Kenne Bell SC, the truck has a history of EGR issues.
It never starts on the first try, but always on the third, most of the time on the second. That happened soon before the hesitations started.
The plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor all got replaced two years or about 16000 miles ago. For the last 8 or so weeks, it only got driven once or twice, I live in a rural setting (mice).Until my code reader comes in, what can I try? I have a mity vac brake bleeder kit, a spare in line fuel filter, and a bunch of tools.
But most importantly, I got you all.
It's good to be back.
Curious. What is a Kenne Bell SC? I always look at the last thing that was repaired as a start point for trouble shooting a problem. EGR issues? Could you elaborate a bit more. The "clacking sound", does it continue after the engine starts, is it constant or does it change with RPM? Do you have an air pump? I'd be looking for a vacuum leak using WD 40 or if your really careful a butane torch (unlit of course).
Kenne bell supercharger. Replaces intake manifold, and mine required the repositioning of EGR tube and valve. This causes the cel to come on, making it difficult to pass the smog test here in CA. My smog guy said that some hose to the valve has to be routed so close to the block that it melts.
The clacking sound only happens when the hesitation is so bad that it seems as if the truck's about to stall.
I don't know whether I have an air pump or not.
Also I failed to mention one thing:
Today I drove it around, and when I got it to hesitate, if I keep my foot on the throttle, the hesitation would continue. If I increase the throttle, gradually or suddenly, that's when the engine would begin to stall and make that clacking sound. BUT, if I take my foot off the accelerator, then press it down again gradually, the hesitation goes away. If I put the pedal to the metal, the truck's off to the races.
There is also a Boost-A-Pump, but the dial is not connected. Don't think it ever was.
