Bad EGR?
I had replaced my ICM and wanted to be certain my timing was still correct, when I revved it, I heard a slap as soon as I let off the throttle plate, then that rattle sound, and it was coming from my EGR, now when I drive it, I hear it more than ever.
Is my EGR Valve supposed to do this and I just never realized it? or is there something wrong that may require replacement?
Right as I started hearing the sound prior to the knowledge of it's source, I also noticed my MPG's took a jump off a cliff, once a 9c/15h truck, I am now getting 4c/9h, I can WATCH my fuel gauge fluctuate, the truck runs a bit rough, and hesitates to start (ran my tank a bit on the low side when that started, and my fuel filter is fighting me on being removed, it's that pressure snap setup, like a pro-press in some way)
Since then I also noticed something else, I was driving my brothers fiancees Explorer, and his fiancee was driving my truck, every time she accelerated, I saw a plume of blue/white some puff out......my rings are fried, and I know it's got to do with my little cable epidemic, I know what you mean by being scared for a sec when that happens, my first thought was "Stop momentum", slapping it into Neutral, completely forgetting "Stuck in WOT, no gear, higher and rougher RPMs......." I know I screwed it up, she still runs OK, and still gets on it pretty good, I just hope it lasts enough to make it through the Winter, till spring, when we can pull the SVT out of the garage, and start tearing into the Eddie.
If I find the issue with mine, I'll be sure to tell you what I did.
and mine just shakes a bit, you can feel it in the seats, and the steering wheel.

We're hoping to leave in mid-spring, as we plan to drive through MO, WI, MI, NY, PA, NH, MA then to SC, the random states are visiting friends and family along the way, seeing as most I haven't seen in years, and would like to take the time to visit them.
Plus, my friend in West Allis, WI has some hard to get replacement parts for my Eddie Bauer, including, but not limited to the rare Eddie Bauer Wood Trim panels I've been looking for everywhere.
I've done a LOT of modern conversions to my OBS in the past few years, I have replaced the metal dome housing with the Plastic Oval dome piece, newer (07-10 F150) cigarette lighter and some other trim parts, I do weird crap like that to smooth up the appearance, to a very VERY subtle degree, I've even taken the aluminum panel off my tailgate, I liked the deleted look on the 96-97 F250/F350 trucks, it makes me feel unique even with the massive 200lb winch bumper hanging on the front atm, which will be heavier, and more stout in the next year, I'm welding in some 1/8" steel plating on the direct face panel on the inside to beef it up, someone must have backed into it recently, seeing as it is now randomly tweaked on the drivers side.
This is my truck

I've owned her for about 8 years now, I bought her with 42k on her ticker, she's NEVER let me down, I sold her to my sister back in 2006, and bought it back in late 2008, She's the ONLY vehicle I've owned twice lol, She now has 179,545 on her clock, and she still runs, it's just in need of an overhaul ASAP.
I know a kid with a Chevy fetish, he knows I have an appreciation and love for fords (I own this truck, and my 1999 Contour SVT, Wife has a Focus ZX5 Hatch), he's always bashing fords, while....I see him in a different truck every few months, and ALL of his previous trucks are at the junkers around town.
but at any rate, its tough to transmit "sounds" like that via text and the internet. . .there are distinct noises that are specific to certain parts of the motor, that cannot be mistaken for others (by a trained ear). could you translate the noise into a tap? a clunk? a knock? and what does the noise do, when youre in neutral, and rev it through the rpm range?
