I dropped out of high school at the middle of 11th grade in 1982 and joined the military and missed a lot of education, what's been helpful for me is online continuing education and Khan Academy is very well put together and is not real boring, the recreational math is very cool..
One of the guys I study with used khan academy to get him through all of the calculus we have take for Mechanical Engineering. He raves about it a lot and recommends it to anybody having difficulty in math.
Tell me about khan academy, its helping me get though college right now. Sucks when you go to a large state university and have to do a majority of learning on your own.

Now then, learning for the sake of knowledge is probably a great idea. I might go so far to say that we never really stop learning.
My youngest daughter is in her senior year at Mary Baldwin College. Very spendy indeed. For an adult who's chasing knowledge, I couldn't imagine them wanting to drop 40K a year on a college when there are other great opportunities available.

The very person that I was talking about in my previous post is 32 years old. He went into the Marines right after he graduated from high school, and decided to go to school after he got out.
