Hello All, First post on the site. I know by the title that it is a common subject but, I thought I would ask.
I have tried to find an answer why my 351C in my 70 Ford F-100 Ranger pools oil in the drivers side valve cover. After running the engine for 15-20 minutes, oil stays in the valve cover. If I had to guess, I would say about 3 cups of oil.
It takes at least 45 minutes for it to drain back into the pan.
If the oil return holes at the back corners of the heads are clogged up or restricted with old oil sludge or pieces of the oil stem seals, it will make the oil slow to drain back down into the oil pan.
Thanks for the replies. I just bought the truck a little while ago. It needs valve seals, I will probably pull the head. I would like to replace the engine with a 302. Thanks again
