Did a full oil change about 4 months ago, however I only drive my truck a couple times during the work week so not really putting any miles on it, and probably didnt need to do the oil change but I'm gearing up to slap on 1000miles on her so figured throw some fresh oil in for the winter season.
I go to drain the oil and only accumulated 2 litres of oil out of the pan!? where did I lose the other 3litres of oil? Checked around, no leaks, no wet spots on the ground. Pulled the plugs to see if I'm burning oil, but they look as good as they did when I put them in new. So where the hell did all that oil go?
Figure that about a quart (maybe a liter) is contained in the filter, along with some in the oil cooler lines (if you have them). All engines burn some oil, how much varies. More than likely there's a few small leaks (rear main, valve cover, etc) allowing some loss.

Ive taken this all into consideration. Rear main was replaced not too long ago. Oil is present around the valve covers in some spots but very minor. Not soaked...just a little wet. But other than that....i do not see anything else that raises a flag. I find it hard to believe that much has burnt off seeing how little i drive it. I pulled a whole 4 litres out of the pan the last oil change... weird....
