Recently changed the TCC solenoid and wire harness inside the pan. It was changed due to serious shifting issues, stalling and general transmission weirdness and the same DTC. All of the craziness went away after reassembly. No debris in the pan when I took this apart. I used a Motorcraft replacement solenoid.
P1743 has returned and, intermittently, the converter will lock up when shifting into Drive/2/1 from Reverse. Not every time but probably 3 out of 7 times.
Needless to say, the fluid is new, red and not burnt at all. At no time has there been any metal or clutch material in the pan.
