Replaced min at ~205k miles. Went with generic aftermarket at a local Meineke. Cut out the old one and welded in the aftermarket with a short length of pipe (old one was longer). Think I paid $400. The old one was clogged up real bad and makeing all kinds of noises. Preformance was terrible too. No check engine light though. One thing I would think about, check you manifolds and studs. If they need work too then do it all at one shot. Unless you plan on doing it yourself at your own pace.....
Haven't needed to replace many of those (based on threads here) on the 6.8l. Let us know how your estimates turn out.
In NYS thanks to Gov. Cuomo we must get OEM CC's. So, being that my CC is still working (the reason for the replacement is that there was rust at the front of the CC and it seep rated into 2) I had a friend weld it back into place and at a fraction of the suspected high cost of replacement. So I will keep welding until the CC fails. And therefore I still do not know the cost to replace. And I hope I never find out, lol.
Thanks for the advice!

In NYS, if the vehicle is CARB compliant then you must use a CARB compliant replacement converter. Problem is, most of the aftermarket converters are not CARB compliant, and the ones that are cost a pretty penny. OEM is expensive too. My Ex is not CARB compliant so I didn't have a problem. But my Toyota Sequoia is. I had problems getting replacements when they stole the cats off it, they just crawled under and sawed em off.
