Catalytic converter replacement

I have a holy catalytic converter and I'm ready to send it to its maker. Here's what I've learned:
Aftermarket brand names available:
Catco
Eastern
Magnaflow
Walker
They all run pretty close to the same price.
Here are some other options:
Direct fit - includes piping, flanges, etc. No welding required (I don't think)
Universal replacement - just the converter module, will have to be welded in
High flow - something called "Flowmonster". Sounds like a knockoff of flowmaster to me

So what do you think? Any of these brands bad? Should I buy the direct fit, or take the thing to a shop and have it welded in?
There are two "bulges" in the lines coming off the manifold before it gets to the "y" on each side. I am assuming the front one is just an elbow. Is it in fact a 2 part converter, or just an elbow?
Maybe I should just get some of that muffler repair putty from the autoparts store and stick a bunch of that in there.

It's the right side (passenger) that is leaking. Should I replace both and do some sweet upgrade to help produce more power? I like power. Mileage would be more desirable though.
Any and all experience is welcome.

I have a 99 but it is near the same. Yes you do have 4 cat converors. Those are not elbows, they are in fact convertors. I personally, hollowed out the foward set of cats, and replaced the rear set with a set of Magnaflow high flow cats. I have not had a problem with the Check Engine Light. I did this about 4 years ago.

BTW, I noticed an increase in power, but I also did a complete tuneup with o2 sensors.

To many to list.

Are you subject to pass at the pipe smog checks? Or are you soon going to be? If so, I'd check out the stockers. Some cheapo aftermarket cats are worthless. I would think the scrappy would have some...
