I'm finally bringing my 99 regular cab to Texas next month and I'm putting together my first list of upgrades to do it. On the top of that list is a remote start system.
I am considering installing power door locks so I can install a nicer RS system. It would allow me double my starting distance and take strain off my already bad back since I won't have to lean across the cab to let people in.
Does anyone have experience in this subject? Much appreciated
what kind? I have aftermarket and they were not expensive ones also had them on another vehicle or 2. Pretty easy, but You will need to unlock via the key fob unless you are thinking of oem stuff. This is how I unlock my pssenger door which also unlocks the driver as they lock once the key is turned to on.
Cant tell ya anything on remote starts but I know my kid has it as well as my son in law. They like it but mine is a manual trans so they wont work.

I've looked at the ones on amazon and they actually look fairly easy to install... Almost like I shouldn't have made this post.
I likely will always use the remote, but am interested in adding a switch for the inside. I assume I'm on my own figuring that out though.
I've installed a few remote starters for my family so I can handle that. I love mine too in Texas because it would take the whole 15 mins normally to cool the the big ford expedition's cabin. But I never got in a hot truck from the day I installed it to the day the truck ceased to exist. This little ranger cab won't take long to cool, but letting the engine warm 5-10mins before taking off, I believe caused my old truck to quit giving engine problems.
