Ok, i've been looking for some power door locks, and eventually some power windows, for my 94, 4x4, 4.0L ranger sc. I see theres a site called www.commandoalarms.com I was wondering if anyone put them in or used them. The reason i ask is they charge 44 bucks for a 2 door lock system. If you go on ebay and do a search on power door locks there are a bunch of the same things for like 20$. I was just wondering if these are crap and thats why they are so cheap, or if its some scam thing. Or maybe its just a small company trying to make an honest dollar!
I think the package you are looking at includes a feature that uses a keyless entry. This is a push button unlock (both doors).
I have an alarm on order and had purchased a couple $8.00 actuators for the locks. My point, I got a cheap alarm that will activate the actuators, unlocking the door with an alarm. I got the alarm for $35.00 from ebay and had the 2 actuators for $16.00.
Getting an alarm to trigger the locks allows you to use the dual actuatos w/o the 'central locking system' they sell the package as. Its just a few bucks more with an alarm that may be worth a consideration.
I'm getting a keyless entry and a remote start also, so i'll use this with that. The "central locking system" think is that 1 actuator will follow what the other does, if you unlock the drivers side door with the key from the outside, it will automatically unlock the passenger door, or if you push the **** down from the inside on the drivers side door, it will pull the **** down on the passneger door. But i am getting keyless entry so that will be nice. I just hope it isnt too teribbly complicated to install all this. but I always like a challange! Thats probably why i order half the stuff for my truck, just so i can install it.

Good thinking of the active locking system. I mean that locking say the drivers side will lok the pass door as well. I have a Viper in my 01 F250 PS and it does that. I think it is a nice feature.
I just figure that the alarm will lock and/or open the drivers side door adn two remote unlock presses will unlock the pass door as well.
Yeah I thought both doors unlocking would come in handy too, cause i'm always reaching over to unlock them. I just hope i can route the wires ok, without having them visible or anything, i want it to look as factory as possible, or as nice as possible at least. Then once i get that done it'll be time for power windows!
There is a rubber flex tube between the cab and the doors so you wont see anything when the doors are open. Run those wires in there.
I wonder if there is a harness already there for wiring windows, locks and speakers. Hmmmmm....
I know there are fog-light plugs on mine although it was not ordered with them. I wonder if there is a harness there for hwat you need to do already. Would be nice For me as well once I get that slow shipped alarm in.
yeah, thats what i was wonderin too, but i dont htink there is cause in the fuse panel there arent any wires comign into where the door and window realays would be, but i do have the fog light wire harness like you have! How does that work, whats it hooked up to on the other end, like if i plugged some aftermarket fog lights in there, would turning on the headlights turn on the fog lights?
