I had the Ford "silver" factory remote system installed in my 03 eddy expy and noticed that my power door lock buttons no longer shut off after 20 seconds when the the ignition key is removed. The power window buttons still shut off like thet should. I talked to both the installer, who said thats the way it is and the remote start manufacturer service rep who had no idea what I was talking about.
Is there anybody else who had either a silver or gold system installed with the same problem that have a fix for it.
Its been awhile since I installed on on a late Expy but I believe that lockout has to be disabled for the remote start system to function properly. Id have to dig up an installation guide to see for sure.
are u talking about the gem module going to sleep like on the newer fords? i install for a living and can help u out a bit if you explain a little more whats happening. I know on alot of newer ford for the alarm to open the door locks you sometimes have to wake up the gem module for the locks to work, becuase the go to sleep after a few minutes whne u lock up the truck, Dont know if this helps at all
With the ignition off, 20 seconds after electrically locked (remote transmitter, keypad, door lock control switch locked with door ajar) and all doors are closed, the door unlock switch will be inhibited if this feature is enabled. (The lock function will still operate.)
The reason it is disabled is that the remote start system is hard wired to the lock and unlock switch circuit. If you dont disable it then the aftermarket/dealer installed remote start cannot unlock the doors.
