looking at a 64 ford150, what was the original motor these trucks were manufactured with? straight 6 or v8 or both? were there more then one type of motor. also rims and tires
Good luck finding a 64 f150.They are as rare as hens teeth. You will have better luck if you go with an f100. They came I believe with a couple of different 6 cylinders and the 292 V8
would that apply to the f100? "couple of different 6 cylinders and the 292 V8"
original tires and rims hard to come by?
thanks
dave
F150's were never even thought about being produced until sometime in the 70's. It's either an F100, F250, F350, etc - no F150.
As for motors, the starters should be all the same as should the blower motors (don't quote me on this though).
If you are wondering about engines, then there were three options:
223 I6
262 I6
292 V8
Original-type rims (because who knows what tires and rims your truck had originally?) aren't too hard to come by depending on what style/size you want.
The F150 was not badged until the late 70s prior to that all ford halftons were f100s. Most 64s had really 2 main engine choices the 223I6 and the 292 Y block V8. Some 64 model trucks had the optional 262I6 but these are very rare.
Original Innie wheels ( hubcap snaps inside the center flange) can be hard to find but I would not call them rare. The 66 up Outie wheel (hubcap snaps over the center flange) are very common. On 66 up wheels there are different sizes of outie caps so pay attention to the center flange of the wheel. The trucks use the 5 x5 1/2 bolt pattern (Model A Bolt pattern). Ford trucks used this pattern from 1928 until 1996 1/2.
