Truck shutters and dies if do not feather throttle down after acceleration...
1996 F250 7.3 Diesel IDI (not power-stroke)
over 300k miles
What components or systems help keep the motor running smoothly, particularly after letting off the throttle? When I let off the throttle, the motor will shutter and die. If I feather the throttle down, the motor will ease down to a normal idle but this can be less than simple with a manual in traffic.
I appreciate the information and suggestions you may have and will provide answers to any questions on the truck as best I can.

Believe i found the fix to my problem...
Found on another site an extensive thread which points to the fuel Injection Pump as the source of the problem.
I personally don't have $450 on the budget right now so I'll probably be looking to a pull-a-part or bunch yard for a low mileage truck. Of course the chance of my finding a low mileage 1994(max) truck with (a) low mileage and (b) a fuel IP intact are likely not great :-(
