I have a 2006 F250 with a 6.0 powerstroke. Today I went to start it and it had a definite miss and blowing white smoke from the tailpipe. I do not have an egr cooler so it's not that. The coolant bottle is not low nor does it have any pressure building while the engine is running. Could this be a headgasket? Or possibly the #8 injector? Sugestions on diagnosing my problem?
I am pretty sure its the fuel injector now. I did notice a slight "burp" through the intake every revolution. Is this from the cylinder not firing? or indication of something more sinister like a bent or hung up valve?
Also, the truck is here in Miami with me, not back at home. Can someone recommend an honest shop I can have towed to?
I am just going to have it towed to a shop. If I wasn't 200 miles from home I might tackle it, but I am pretty limited on tools. I think I have a set of wire crimpers, a crescent wrench, a multi tool and a Philips screwdriver.

I decided to take my Truck to a shop and there is 0 compression on #8 with a Mechanical gauge. He took off the valve cover and all of the valves are moving but at least one intake valve is not sealing. It is coming back through the intake. This means the Cab and Head has to come off. I am going to go ahead and have him pull the other head and do new gaskets and studs since its already going to be torn down that far.
My question, what can cause a valve to fail? Is this common on the 6.0?
