If I've alter asked, I apologize! Have a 2000 F250 PSD,, have a crashed '05 Excursion... I'd like to swap the headlights from 05 to the 00.. What do I need to do to swap them????

 

Pretty common google search term. 05 front end conversion. Thete are a few was to go about it bit here is a start. http://www.powerstroke.org/forum/showthread.php?t=138511

 

There are 2 ways to do this.
1. Remove your headlights, and then modify your existing grill mounting panel, as the cutouts are different, re-wire your harness, and install new headlights.

2. Buy an 05 grill mounting panel. Remove your grill, parking lights, and headlights. Then remove the 2000 grill mounting panel.
Remove the metal brackets from the 2000 panel, and install in same location on the 05 panel.
Install the 05 grill mounting panel.
The 2000 and 2005 headlights take a different harness, so you will need to re-wire your existing harness. Also, the side maker light plug should be swapped out.
Then, install your 05 style headlights.
You will need to modify your 2000 grill to fit the 05 grill mounting panel. Basically, just cut some notches in it. It will bolt on to the top of the 05 panel, but, mounting is different at the bottom. You can use zip strips to mount it at the bottom. Or, you can install the 05 grill, which I will do later on my truck.
If you wish to upgrade to the 05 grill later, then this is the easiest way.
The entire swap, took me about 3 hours, and is very easy to do.
With the 05 style headlights, I have brighter light output, but, my 2000 headlights were getting pretty hazy. I bought all my parts from the local NAPA store, and am into it for about $350. Would be cheaper to use wrecking yard parts, but, I wanted new lights.

I have the grille mounting panel, so that part should be relatively easy. So, what's the wiring harness require, anything special other than discarding the old headlight plugs and installing the 05 style in their place?

 

Yes, you'll re-wire your existing harness with the 05 style. 3 wires per side. Also, the small clearance light has a different shape plug. You should swap the 05 plug to your harness, just unplug yours, and plug in the 05.
