Maybe its the Fuel Pump

I thought I ran out of Fuel, because ole' Blue started to stutter going up Hill. I pull over, and she would not start. The Fuel Filter was dirty from rust.
Had it Towed

*Next Day*

I placed fuel in the tank, because i thought it was empty. It started right up. I drove it up hill for 1 Block. She died again..

Does this sound like a fuel Pump issue? I drove it a few days before without any issues.

Thanks

Always carry an spare fuel filter in the glove box, tool box or behind the cab with the spare ignition module. Cheaper than a tow.

Usually when a fuel pump quits, it quits and does not work again. Could be a clogged fuel sock on the in tank sending unit pick up tube?

I cleaned the fuel filter, i really hope its not a clogged sock, which would require a new tank and sending unit.. Ugh

How much fuel is in the tank? If it's low and you were going up hill, the fuel would go towards the back of the tank, and possibly not be enough in there to pick up.
If you look inside the carb and pull the accelerator can you see that it is praying fuel into the carb

Have a fuel extinguisher handy when doing these kinds of tests. Should keep one in the truck at all times.

The newer fuels are hard on hoses and fuel system components. While engine is idling direct the output of the fuel pump into a clean container. Should be at least 1 pint in 30 seconds.

The engine will idle for quite a while with just the fuel in the carburetor, plenty long to check fuel pump output. Engine won't actually use a quart of gas every minute, but it must be able to provide that much volume, at all times under all conditions. If fuel pump is more than a few years old and/or the truck sat a lot, it's good practice to replace it.

Blow out the hard lines with shop air back in to the tank. The sock likely rotted long ago anyway. Replace any and all rubber fuel hose and clamps, reset carburetor float level (important) finally idle mixture, and idle RPM.

A cheap inline clear plastic or metal body fuel filter is best to just be replaced. A glass cleanable is ok too.

Worse case you drop the tank and insp the filter sock on the sending unit pick up tube and it is just clogged up.

But if you do all the work to drop the tank, ya might as well clean it out REALLY well and put a new sending unit in.

I'm starting to wonder if your losing Spark
Maybe after you get the truck idling wiggle some wires around. It may cut out, or shock you but you'll be able to find the problem.
