Are you meaning RPMs?
Curb idle is generally around 700 and fast idle is 1700.

so 700 is setting curb idle with the auto transmission in gear correct?

I'll have to let someone else answer that, I've never had an auto so haven't done it.

My 1986 manual transmission 4.9L idles @ ~650-700 RPMs. I would think the auto transmission equipped truck engine will need to be a little higher. Is there a factory emissions sticker on the radiator support? That usually supplies that information.

I just looked on the radiator support of my 1986 F150 with 4.9L engine, which was originally computer controlled [now Duraspark] and the original factory sticker indicates: 500-600 RPMs in drive for an automatic. It also specifies 1500-1600 RPMs for fast idle.

Nice distributor... Why not upgrade carb and intake?

Let the upgrade bug take you away and empty your wallet!
