2003 F150 Super Crew. I replaced a dead battery and now notice the climate control quits working (blacks out) after a few seconds, and a battery light comes on the dash. If I turn the truck off and wait a moment and then restart, the climate control will light up and work but after a few seconds, same thing, it blacks out and quits, battery light on the dash.
battery light normally means the alternator is putting out less voltage than the battery. You replaced the battery, but do you know the alternator is good ? Measure the battery voltage while running ... should be over 13.5 volts.... bad alternator, or you have a bad wire / ground for it/
I will be testing the Alternator output this weekend, I am confused why this incident is not affecting other electrical systems other than the climate control.
So after waking up to a dead battery three times, I have determined that the truck is suffering from some parasitic electrical draw. There is some good youtube videos on this situation that will help determine what systems are drawing excessive power when the truck should be off. I will found out more this weekend.
