I need help in what type of paint and primer is best and will last the longest on my steering wheel and the ***** on the dash for a 1960 F100 custom cab. The wheel is in good shape with a few cracks now repaired and ready for paint. I used PC7 A & B to fill in the cracks. I am going back with white. I know in painting things certain surface's require special primers and paint. I will go by the local Sherwin Williams auto paint store to see what they have. Just wondering if someone has already done the trial and error and has the answer. I did order on **** it said white but it is cream will paint it as well.
I just used acrylic urethane enamel topcoat on both my 58 merc as well as my 64 econoline, 13 and fourteen years ago repectively, back then i believe it was dupont chroma series on the econoline and sherwin's dimension line acrylic urethane on the 58. and both are standing up well,
so far as primer i seem to recall just using a one step etching/filling primer on only the epoxy repaired areas and just sprayed directly over the bare black wheels in order to avoid seeing the gray primer if i did end up with chips.
