Stuck in Ca.

Anybody know a good shop in or near Patterson, Ca. ? I think I blew out an o-ring on the high pressure oil line to the right head. I'm on my way to Az. towing my fifth wheel. Made it to a RV park, but I'm stuck here.

Hang in there friend, some one will be along shortly with some words of advice. About the only thing I can offer you is if it is simply an o-ring, can you maybe get to a Fastenal, or parts store (autozone, orielly, advance) and find a replacement the same size? Do you have the tools required to change the o-ring/remove the line?

I would be looking at temporary solutions in order to get you to where you need to be and then get a permanent solution once you are there.

Thanks for the reply, I believe I can do it myself, but at 70, I don't bend like I used to LOL. It looks like I'll have to remove the spider to get wrench room.

I had an HPOP line fitting blow last summer. Don't know exactly where your leak is, but I didn't need to remove anything. I got one of these from Clay: HPOP Outlet Hose Fitting - Riffraff Diesel Performance
I also picked up one of these tools to release the fitting: HPOP Quick Disconnect Hose Removal Tool for Ford 7.3L 99-03
Very quick and easy deal. Now that I have a spare fitting I can rebuild, all I need now is this to make a back up:HPOP Discharge Hose Quick Disconnect Fitting Repair Kit - Riffraff Diesel Performance
If it's the hose itself:HPOP Line - Passenger Side Head 99.5-03 - Riffraff Diesel Performance
If any of these might be what you need, Clay could probably get it to you fairly quickly as he's just in Oregon. I hope this helps, or at least gives a little insight as to what your getting into.

I don't know much about the HPOP, maybe the campground has a 4 foot step ladder you could borrow for a bit? I made a standing pad for the front of my truck using a 2x12 and some bicycle hooks that you buy at home depot. I secured the hooks to the board, then hung the board from the tow hooks on the front of the truck. It was not as good as a top side creeper, but it gave me enough lift to get to the rear of the engine.

Keep us posted.

Not sure how I'm going to go about this yet. If someone doesn't come up with a shop name, by morning, i'll be checking my options for a place to work on it and see what I can do. Most RV parks don't want you to work on a rig in the park, but I haven't talked to them yet. Think I'll sleep on it and see what transpires. Thanks for the replies.

Imler in Sacramento or Left Coast in Concord, but both too far from Patterson when hemorrhaging oil. Terminator or someone local, call around. Tracy nearest burgh I think.

Things are happening as I write this, thanks for all the replies. I will follow up with a full report when done.

Update: The truck is running!!
The Story: I post that I am having an issue, encouragement comes almost immediately, Clay at RiffRaff picks up the ball and says "I will help", and he does. Information is pm'd. Clay makes a call to Duck Fan AKA Peter Willis. Duck Fan then gets in touch with me and tells me he will respond (from 90 miles away) to help, and he does. Peter arrives and removes my HPOP. He then calls Joey (whom I have not had the pleasure of meeting), owner of Terminator Engineering (high performance HPOPs) who takes time out of his Saturday to meet Peter at the Terminator shop where they reseal my pump, AT NO CHARGE! Peter then returns to the RV park and puts everything back together. All this for the price of an average dinner out. This site and the people associated with it never cease to amaze me. I am feeling very humbled and blessed right now. Thanks to all and Happy New Year.

Good stuff! In all of my 40 years (a spring chicken compared to you, I know) I have never seen an online community such as FTE. It is just ridiculous and unheard of the amount of information, good intentions and willingness to help that this site holds among its members.

Safe travels to you, and I am glad you got it sorted out quickly.

EDIT: On a side note I have been thinking about becoming a donating member to FTE because of what I have learned, passed on to others and the potential to help here on a daily basis. This story and sense of community just sealed the deal for me. I am going to become a gold donating member tonight.

Again, safe travels to you on the rest of your journey.
