Hi guys....this coming Monday, the 4th will mark 11 years since I drove my Excursion off the dealer's lot. She's been garaged since about 2007 and I'm now going to start treating the mild surface rust on the springs, differentials, etc. The floors and frame are fine.
When my Ex was a year or two old, I put one of the newer Ford finned rear covers on and since I'll be painting the axles, I thought it might be nice to update the front axle like the rear.
I've looked around and it looks like there are a few aftermarket choices, but some question about clearing steering linkage, etc.
Does anyone have experience with any of these front axle covers made by the aftermarket? Or..does Ford make one that would better match the rear?
I have Mag Hytec dif covers on both the front and back. While I do have a 4" lift, I have had no issues with the covers. I could take some photos tomorrow if you want, just let me know.

I just hit 200k on my 03 6.0 so its time to change the axel fluid. Was considering changing the covers to, so pics please. (pics of the trans pan too, if you could be so kind) THANX
Mage Hytec front, rear and trans pan on a stock height 4x4. I have had no problems with clearance on mine. I really like the functionality of these especially the magnetic dip sticks and the extra fluid capacity.
Here is what I use for fluids:
AMSOil Severe Gear (front) SVGQT 75W 90 Syn
AMSOil Severe Gear (rear) SVOQT 75W140 Syn
AMSOil Slip Lock Additive ADATB
Front Mag-Hytech 60-FF, 4 quarts (buy 5) of 75W90 and 1 (4oz tube) of Slip Lock
Rear Mag-Hytech 12-10.25-10.5, 6 quarts (buy 7) of 75W140 and 2 (4oz tubes) of Slip Lock
Man those covers are nice. I just don't think I'll ever be able to justify spending that much money on diff covers.
The 08+ rear aluminum cover sounds right for you then. I went with it myself. Flange bolts from local hardware store, new fluid and some RTV black. I would recommend a stud for centering the cover upon installation.
I do want to locate a similar for the front as well.

DIY......Mag-lowtech . Stick a few of these on the outside of your stock covers. MAGCRAFT® NSN0674 - Rare-Earth Disc Magnets
No bling factor but I suppose you could just paint yours if you want some.
