front axle decode
i really hate to start a new thread when there are so many already but ive been looking for days and cant find answers.
please help me decode my front axle tag. it reads...
3.54 (upside down triangle) E8TA TC

I have the D50 in my F250 and it is a good rig. I have replaced all the seals, joints, bearings and races as well as ball joints as a part of general maintenance at 100K. That axle is a perfect excuse to buy the Snap-on BJP1 (ball joint press). If you do tear into it, also make sure you replace the pivot bushings (often neglected). It is a little more labor intensive than a D60, but still not too difficult. As I have kept my truck stock, there is no need to replace it unless you were going to do significant mods. Mine has not suffered from use at all and does not get abuse. While there is every reason to love a D60, no reason to hate the D50 in my opinion. It works hard too.

is there any way to determine the ring gear size without pulling the differential?
