iat sensor location

Could someone please post a picture of the iat sensor location. I have a 94 f150 with 4.9l il6. It's spitting and sputtering like it's running out of gas. I have replaced the fuel filter twice and it will run good for a week or two and start acting up again. Any ideas? Thought I might try replacing the iat sensor if I could find it. Thanks

Yes, that's it!

Have you pulled codes?

I haven't pulled the codes yet because when I changed my fuel filter a couple nights ago my check engine light went out. Which it has done this the last couple times I changed the filter so when it comes back on I will have them pulled. I had just read where some people had similar issues and that sensor took care of it so I was just wanting to get an idea where it was if that code does pop up. I don't understand what's going on but I don't just want to start throwing money into it either without knowing the problem

Pulling codes is easy and free, with a jumper wire.

Also, the CEL coming on and then off is telling you something, so I would investigate promptly.

When pulling codes, be sure to 1st warm the engine up to operating temperature, then retrieve KOEO codes first. Post them in the order they are received.

Also, checking fuel pressure will also tell you a lot than guessing it has enough fuel psi to run correctly.
FYI, the 300 needs 45-50 psi to run and idle correctly.

Thank you sir, I appreciate it. I'm going to check fuel pressure and try to pull codes in the morning. One last question does it store codes or will I have to wait for the light to come back on. Thanks again

Codes are stored until the either the positive or negative cable for the battery is removed.

Also, the CEL doesn't even need to be on to find codes pertaining to problems.

Ok here is what I came up with. I pulled the codes and the best I could come up with was 3,3,1,3,3. Which didn't make any sense because I thought the 94 f150 with the 4.9 was a code of 3 numbers, so those numbers wouldn't add up. Plus I thought the first set of 3 was to mean 6 cylinder. Now about the fuel pressure test. It read 25 lbs with the key on and 45 lbs when started. Tried it again this time working the key a couple times and it built up to 35 lbs with key on and 45 lbs again when started. Shouldn't it have more than that with the key on? Thanks again

Codes didn't make sense to me either. But, it takes some practice deciphering them the first time. Just keep watching the CEL flash and use 1's in a sequence to decipher them.

111_11_1111_111_11_1111.

Fuel psi seems like its just on the low side when started and yes, with key on, it should hit minimum of 45 before starting.

Cycling the key several times should have gotten it up to the minimum before starting, unless the battery is weak.

Mine hold 50 off the bat and will stay like that for hours before any leak down occurs. Did you check for leak down before starting the truck? Your can cycle the key several times and then let turn the key off and let the fuel psi tester stay and come back and see what psi its at after 5, 10, 30 minutes.
