Having it towed from Where to Where? I may be interested in the tow job, and have AE in which I can bring.

I think he said Deming NM to Tulsa OK. I'm thinking about a 10-11 hour drive.

Yes, from Deming NM to Tulsa area. It's an F350 7.3 dully with a service body with hoist, welder and some machinery in the bed. Weighs around 14 thousand pounds total. That would be great if you could fetch it for me. I've been without my tools for three weeks now.

This sounds like a loose injector coupled with a blown cup seal. I know it's a little early to make guesses without any troubleshooting at all - but white smoke, low coolant, and knocking has all the hallmarks of an injector that got a little loose and allowed combustion temps and pressures to reach the cup.

Now that the truck has been parked, there is a slight risk it's hydrolocked - so keep that in mind when you start diagnosing.

If I'm right, Clay has another cup tool return in transit - I just went through this very same thing with #5 injector.

Hydrolocked? I'm no expert here. Are you referring to coolant leaking into the cylinder or fuel leaking into the cylinder?
How to remedy? Remove all injectors and roll it over by hand? How do I repair the blown cup seal? I would imagine there is info on that here on this forum. I've been a subscribed to this forum for many years and am amazed at the depth of information available here. Thanks for all the response and help with this.

Well, I guess I'll have to forget about getting my truck back to Tulsa for repairs. Seems as if nobody is interested in transporting it.
So I'm going to try and have it repaired in El Paso. Do any of you guys know a good diesel shop around S/W NewMexico? I guess I'll have it repaired there and then drive it back myself. I NEED MY TRUCK!

I feel for ya man, I got stranded a few years ago, and spent 3 days in a rest area in my 5th wheel trailer while the truck was hauled and fixed. Good luck with it, and keep us informed.

The only one I know of that I would trust is Jason at Arizona Affordable Diesel in Tucson but that's 3 hours from Deming. Jason knows these trucks inside out.

Not saying there isn't someone in Las Cruces or El Paso, I just don't know.

I've not done cups or a couple of other things, so if that seems like a strong possibility, I'm not much help.

Have you checked with UShip? List it for bid, see what happens.

Guys with big trucks and big trailers HATE to travel empty!

If it is a blown cup seal and hydrolocked, it's just a matter of popping the valve covers, removing the glow plugs, and cranking the engine by hand. The offending cylinder will spit out the fluid, and you will know your enemy.

I have had blown cup seals with no hydrolocking - I just mentioned it as something to watch for. The safest approach would be to crank it by hand at first, to make sure a hydrolock didn't occur.

While we're on the topic - I was far from home and I had two sticks pop loose, it blew one cup, the truck made a serious fog bank, and I had a two-cylinder miss. Guess what... it drove another 600 miles to get me home - while getting 18.5 MPG. We don't yet know if your truck can't be driven home.
